Stainless Steel 660 is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel known for its high strength and good corrosion resistance. It is often used in high-stress applications where enhanced mechanical properties are required.
Properties | Value |
Maximum Operating Temperature (°C/°F) | 870°C (1600°F) |
Thermal Conductivity (W/m-K) | 16.3 |
Specific Heat (J/kg-K) | 500 |
Forge Stainless Steel 660 at temperatures between 1050-1150°C (1922-2102°F). The typical reduction ratio is around 4:1. Post-forging heat treatment is required to achieve the desired hardness and mechanical properties.
To stress relieve Stainless Steel 660, heat it to a temperature range of 620-720°C (1148-1328°F) for 1-2 hours. Slow cooling should follow to stabilize the material and reduce residual stresses.
