Stainless Steel 321 is a heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel alloy stabilized with titanium. It offers improved resistance to intergranular corrosion and maintains strength and oxidation resistance at high temperatures.
Properties | Value |
Maximum Operating Temperature (°C/°F) | 870°C (1600°F) |
Thermal Conductivity (W/m-K) | 16.2 |
Specific Heat (J/kg-K) | 500 |
Forge Stainless Steel 321 at temperatures between 1050-1150°C (1922-2102°F). The typical reduction ratio is about 4:1. Post-forging, it requires heat treatment to relieve stresses and achieve optimal mechanical properties.
For stress relieving, heat Stainless Steel 321 to a temperature range of 675-725°C (1250-1350°F) for 1-2 hours. Follow with slow cooling to prevent introducing new stresses and to stabilize the material.
