Stainless Steel 446 is a high-chromium ferritic stainless steel known for its excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It is designed for applications requiring resistance to scaling and thermal stability.
Properties | Value |
Maximum Operating Temperature (°C/°F) | 1150°C (2102°F) |
Thermal Conductivity (W/m-K) | 23.3 |
Specific Heat (J/kg-K) | 460 |
Forge Stainless Steel 446 within a temperature range of 1050-1200°C (1922-2192°F). The typical reduction ratio is around 4:1. Post-forging heat treatment is necessary to relieve stresses and achieve the desired properties.
For stress relieving, heat Stainless Steel 446 to a temperature range of 750-850°C (1382-1562°F) for 1-2 hours. After heating, slow cooling is recommended to stabilize the material and minimize residual stresses.
