Stainless Steel 17-4 PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel known for its high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good machinability. It is commonly used in applications requiring a combination of hardness and toughness.
Properties | Value |
Maximum Operating Temperature (°C/°F) | 300°C (572°F) |
Thermal Conductivity (W/m-K) | 14.4 |
Specific Heat (J/kg-K) | 500 |
Forge Stainless Steel 17-4 PH at temperatures between 1050-1150°C (1922-2102°F). A typical reduction ratio is around 4:1. Post-forging heat treatment is required to relieve stresses and achieve the desired hardness and mechanical properties.
For stress relieving, heat Stainless Steel 17-4 PH to a temperature range of 620-760°C (1148-1400°F) for 1-2 hours. Slow cooling should follow to stabilize the material and reduce residual stresses.
